As mentioned previously, I made it out to the shop, and Biscuit, to continue the Alexseal paint application to the coachroof and decks. Arriving at the shop, I got straight to assembling painting supplies and then mixed a pot of paint. I carried the supplies over to the paint booth, along with the reducer and flattening agent to mix in after the 15-minute induction period expired.

With the paint doing its thing, I moved into preparing the substrate by thoroughly wiping down with acetone and disposable shop rags. I moved across the coachroof and companionway areas before finishing up by working around Biscuit's decks.

The paint now ready, I thinned to nearly 30% and added in the flattening agent. The paint wants to be thinned on the upper end of the range, and so I obliged with a good 2 ounces of reducer. I prepared a tray and cleaned the foam roller and got straight to it. First, I tackled the coachroof and companionway as this provided the best working access to the surfaces and eliminated the need for me to be on the decks. Paint went on much better due to the warmer temps as well as the amount of reducer added.

With the coachroof covered, I moved down onto the paint booth floor and continued the effort on the decks. I started at the bow (stem fitting) and worked aft along the starboard side. I then applied Alexseal to the poop deck, made the turn aft the aft port quarter, and then worked up the port decks to the finish back at the bow. No real concerns on this application, and I'll be heading over for a post-cure review this afternoon.

I also completed the second coat to the companionway hatch and cockpit seat hatches.
