Fairing the Coachroof & Deck

Nov 24, 2024

With just a couple hours to devote to Biscuit, coming off the bottom job, I worked my way around the hull-to-deck joint, deck, and coachroof sanding the areas that required some spot fill or final fairing application. With 100-grit pads, I hand-sanded my way across Biscuit, with special attention given to areas requiring it.

After sanding, I vacuum most of the detritus, leaving a surface to then solvent-wash (wipe) to remove any remaining contaminates. With the surfaces freshly sanded and cleaned with solvent, I set off to the shop to prepare a batch of the Total Boat Total Fair product - a 2-part epoxy-based fairing compound. Once the part A (yellow goop) and the part B (blue goop) were thoroughly mixed to a green goop, I applied the fairing compound with a plastic squeegee.

The intricate inside and outside corners and gutters of the cockpit are next, then primer to follow.

Total Hrs: 1.75
