The time had come to say goodbye to another Cape Dory Typhoon, Biscuit, Hull #466 out of Lake Martin, Alabama. A longtime coming, I eventually had the privilege of refitting Biscuit after a few years had passed in first corresponding with her owner. The Milbs Mobile Marine shop had recently purchased and relocated to a property in Jacksonville, Florida when Biscuit's owner made contact with the shop again. A few months later, Biscuit was delivered by her owner to the new shop location.

As can be imagined, the shop was is need of its own attention: new roof + trusses , building out the interior, running power from the property's old farm house to the shop, electrified, pole barn next to the shop, and on and on....a lot of this build out was taken on by yours truly, so Biscuit waited patiently for her turn. The pace of the refit gathered steam as the shop improvements were dialed back necessarily over time.

Once Biscuit got the spotlight, she was given attention to just about every aspect of her life under sail: new standing rigging, new running rigging, bottom taken to gelcoat and barrier coat and bottom paint applied, new thru-hulls and seacocks, with an added bilge pump thru-hull, all new exterior brightwork (mahogany), fresh paint (Alexseal), new nonskid, all new deck hardware to include a mainsheet traveler and teak riser, and on and on. This was a fun one! I love the Alberg designs, and the astute observer will quickly notice the Cape Dory 33 resting beside the scaled-down version, the Typhoon!

What a blessing to work with Biscuit's owner, and knowing she's the first to enter and depart the shop is of great reward. Fair winds, Biscuit, and following seas!
