Coaming Board Varnish

Feb 20, 2026

I cleaned the coaming boards with a quick wipe down yesterday evening to prep for a quick coat of varnish. After sanding the inboard side of both the port and starboard cockpit coaming boards, I cleaned with an acetone wipe and prepared a small cup of varnish. Being the second coat (first coat after the sealer coat), I lightly thinned the varnish and brushed on with a 2" foam brush, as per usual.

These boards will be flipped for varnish application on the outboard side, followed by another coat prior to being mounted onto Biscuit's molded fiberglass cockpit coaming and then varnished in situ to final coats.
