Final Nonskid Coat on the Foredeck
Feb 18, 2026
In an effort to complete the foredeck's nonskid and move on to other tasks in the coming weekend, I took an hour in the evening to get the final coat on. Arriving at the shop, I grabbed a Scotchbrite pad and headed over to Biscuit. I lightly abraded the surface with the red Scotchbrite pad, and followed that with a thorough vacuuming of the surfaces.
I prepped a small roller pan with the TotalBoat nonskid paint and grabbed a roller, then made my way back over to the Cape Dory Typhoon. As I did with the previous coat, I rolled on the sanded nonskid paint, working from the port aft section, near the forward portion of the cockpit, and made my way to the stem. Turning at the stem, I worked down the starboard foredeck towards the cockpit, completing the final coat.
On to other tasks...
