Sometimes it right under your nose! After a crazy morning....let. e explain. I arrived at Somerledi for the final push for completion of stripping her bottom in prep for blister repairs, fresh barrier coat, and wrapping up with new anti-foul paint. I got halfway through set-up when I noticed I did not have my 6" Bosch and 5" DeWalt sanders - very necessary for the job. I must have overlooked them at the house - keeping a portion of the tool arsenal for Somerledi close. I left the marine and headed back home, only to find that the sanders were not there. I did remember grabbing the sanding disks from the shop Friday evening, so the sanders must be at the shop. I hopped in the truck and headed to the shop. Upon arrival and after searching the shop, I could not locate them. Stolen? When, and from where? Then it hit me...I removed the full filter bag from the vac system on the previous work session, AND STORED THE SANDERS IN THE FILTER COMPARTMENT!! They were right under my nose!

Finally back at the marina, I got started on the remaining port section of the hull that required anti-foul paint removal. This process worked from 40-grit disks, through 60-grit, finishing with 80-grit disks. The turn of the bilge gobbles time, as that curve requires precision and light hand work so as to avoid dishing out the hull and creating additional work to fill and fair. In the end, I completed the removal of Somerledi's bottom paint and can now turn my attention to the repair of her blisters. Coming up, I will use a grinder and flap disk to open up the blisters and prep them to receive small fiberglass patches and fairing filler - epoxy-based resin to be applied.
